Professional critics have responded to the art of Peter Shulman by describing it as " Gripping realism, innovative technique." "Typically impeccable workmanship." "Exciting, representational art, masterfully executed."
Excerpt from the artist's statement regarding "Mother and Child with Ball":
One day after the birth of my son I watched him and his mother sitting in a window seat. She was handing him various items to touch and hold as learning tools. They were backlit by the sun streaming thru the window causing them to appear as silhouettes the only color coming from the items as he explored them. I knew instantly that I had found the unique way to create the Peter Shulman Mother and Child works.
The first item my wife gave our son to hold was a bright red ball. The spot of red radiating from their backlit silhouettes was so dramatic that I made it the first of the Mother and Child paintings.
In this painting I try to pass on a deeply held hope that my children, their children and all following generations will be able to enjoy life on our unique and amazingly beautiful blue planet.
