A LITTLE BIT ABOUT CORK: Cork is the outer bark of the cork oak tree and is found mainly in Portugal, Spain, southern France, Italy, and North Africa. . The bark can be 'stripped' off allowing new bark to grow in its place without killing or damaging the trees. This makes every tree a renewable source of raw material. Cork is harvested from each tree every 9 to 10 years until the tree is approximately 200 years old. The cork oak tree produces off-spring naturally by dropping acorns that seed themselves and eventually mature into productive full grown trees. There is no other material, either manmade or natural, with all the properties and characteristics that are unique to cork. It is water and oil proof, lightweight, resistant to rot, dust, mold, fire and mildew. In addition it is soft to the touch and lots of fun to wear!
